Day 1, Wednesday June 17: (2 nights) Welcome to Canada and Vancouver, one of its most beautiful cities. After transferring from the International Airport to your conveniently located hotel, you will have some free time to explore this “walker friendly” city before enjoying a special Welcome dinner at one of the cities’ most popular harbor front restaurants. Overnight Vancouver – Delta Hotel (or similar)
Day 2, Thursday, June 18: After breakfast at the hotel, a local step-on guide will take you on a “highlights of the city tour” including Chinatown, Gastown and 1000-acre Stanley Park. You’ll soar to the top of 4100 ft Grouse Mountain on the Skyride for a spectacular panoramic view of the city and the vast shoreline of Pacific Ocean. Enjoy the world-famous Lumberjack Show. Free afternoon to further explore Stanley Park, Gastown and Granville Island. Dinner on your own.
Day 3, Friday, June 19: (1 night) Early this morning, transfer to the railway station. Here, board the famous Rocky Mountaineer for your spectacular 2-day journey from Vancouver to Banff. Breakfast is served as the train pulls out of Vancouver and heads east through the lush Fraser River Valley. From your reclining seats in the SilverLeaf Service dome car, enjoy spectacular views as you travel along the rugged cliffs of the Fraser River surrounded by the peaks of the Coastal and Cascade mountains. Be prepared to be spoiled as your service crew provides you with constant refreshments and enjoy a gourmet lunch in your own dining room. Your day concludes in beautiful Kamloops. Dinner on your own. Day 4, Saturday, June 20: (2 nights) This morning, board the train and enjoy a hearty breakfast while viewing the spectacular scenery that surrounds you. Today, the train travels along the scenic North Thompson Valley, crisscrossing the river many times and winding its way through the scenic Albreda Pass, eventually meeting up with the Fraser River and passing by Mt Robson, at 12750 ft.,the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies. Your adventure continues into Jasper National Park and the spectacular Rocky Mountains. In the late afternoon your rail journey ends as you reach the scenic resort community of Jasper. Tonight, take some time to enjoy the shops, sites, and people of this friendly resort community. Dinner on your own. Overnight Jasper – Crimson Hotel or similar
Day 5, Sunday, June 21: Start this morning with a short tour of the community of Jasper before heading into the rugged and scenic Maligne Canyon. Continuing, you’ll emerge to a magnificent view of Maligne Lake. Board a comfortable dome-tipped boat for a 90-minute cruise. Surrounded by majestic peaks, glaciers and waterfalls, the lake holds a mystical spell on all those who take the optional 10-minute walk on Spirit Island. A special lunch awaits in the historic Maligne Lake Chalet. An early afternoon return to Jasper will give you lots of free time for shopping. Dinner on your own.
Day 6, Monday June 22: (2 nights) This morning we’ll travel on one of the most scenic highways in the world – The Icefield Parkway. Enjoy the commentary of your step-on-guide ad you journey south along the Athabasca River and a stop at the thundering Athabasca Falls. You’ll journey through two majestic mountain passes on your way to the amazing Columbia Icefields. Ride on the Athabasca glacier in a specially built Ice Explorer. Your driver will tell you all about the incredible geological history of the glaciers and mountains. In the afternoon, continue with stops at Bow and Peyto Lakes. This is also a great time to watch for wildlife including Bears, Elk, Moose and Mountain Goats. Your spectacular day comes to an end in Lake Louise Village, surrounded by glacier covered peaks. Dinner is included tonight in Banff. Overnight Banff – Banff Ptarmigan Lodger or similar.
Day 7, Tuesday, June 23: A leisurely morning drive along the banks of the Bow River brings you to the “Jewell of the Rockies”, Lake Louise. Take some time to enjoy this world-famous spot. You will have time to view the lake and the Victoria Glacier from many angles as well as a few minutes to explore the iconic Chateau Lake Louise. You’ll return to Banff in time for lunch (on your own) and a free afternoon and evening to explore this iconic resort. Take the free bus to visit the castle-like Banff Springs Hotel, or hop on the Sulphur Mt Gondola for a trip to the top and a panoramic view from 7500 ft. Walk to the Bow Falls, bathe in the hot Sulphur pools and don’t forget the shops, museums and multitude of pubs, cafes and fine restaurants that are all within walking distance. Dinner on your own.
Day 8, Wednesday, June 24: (1 night) This morning before heading east to Calgary, we will take a short tour of Banff including the famed Bow Falls, the Castlelike Banff Springs hotel and the mysterious Hoodoos. Welcome to Calgary, Canada’s fastest growing metropolis and the energy (oil) capital of the country. Experience the early days of Canada’s West in Heritage Park. Ride a Steam Train, explore the 1860’s working historical village and view the vintage vehicle and gas pump collection in Gasoline Alley. Later in the afternoon, check into our centrally located hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the nearby shops before enjoying a very special final dinner celebration at the Jubilations Dinner Theater Restaurant. Overnight Calgary– Hotel Arts or similar.
Day 9, Thursday, June 25: This morning there may be time to visit the 17th Avenue Shopping and Entertainment District for some last-minute shopping in any of the 400 unique shops and services in the area. Your destination will be the Calgary International Airport for your return flight home.
